Kimberly Caldwell shot to stardom after appearing on the hit FOX singing competition “American Idol” in its second season. However, Caldwell has been singing competitively since she was a child, first singing publicly in beauty pageants at age 5. Aside from being a five-time junior winner for “Star Search,” Kimberly Caldwell also sang for George and Barbara Bush’s 50th wedding anniversary in 1995. She even joined the second season of “Popstars: USA” in 2001 only to be rejected by her group, telling Kimberly that she’s be more successful as a solo artist – and Caldwell did exactly that.
In 2003, Kimberly Caldwell joined the second season of American Idol, finishing 7th place. Her overnight stardom led to other opportunities, such as working as a correspondent for FOX Sports Network’s extreme sports and entertainment program called “54321,” where Kimberly Caldwell featured movie premieres and sports events. She then went on a 44-city tour with other Season 2 finalists.
After the tour, Kimberly Caldwell was hired by TV Guide Network to be their “American Idol” correspondent for the third season. Kimberly Caldwell has also been featured on “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra,” and “Inside Edition” and has covered various award shows, such as the Grammy’s, the Emmy’s, the Golden Globes, the People’s Choice Awards and the Academy Awards. Kimberly made an acting debut in the film “Wrong Turn 2: Dead End,” followed by a role in the miniseries “Twentysixmiles” and a small role in the 2008 movie “Memories of Murder.” Caldwell also started hosting the CBS TV game show “Jingles” and will be seen on P.Diddy Combs’ MTV show called “P. Diddy’s Starmaker” in late 2009.
As for her music, Kimberly Caldwell has released a single in summer 2006, which is a new version of the 1987 hit “Who Will You Run To.” Kimberly Caldwell has also released three singles, “Fear of Flying,” “Gave Yourself Away” and “Taking Back My Life.” She is currently writing and recording music for her debut album with the help of American Idol judge Randy Jackson and legendary songwriter Diane Warren.
